Who are We

Titan Mechanical is a growing HVAC and plumbing contractor specializing in multi-family residential construction across the DMV area. We are known for delivering high-quality, well-executed projects and are expanding our preconstruction team.

Our mission is to deliver high-performance mechanical and plumbing systems through execution, expertise, and accountability. We operate with a strong foundation of integrity, accountability, teamwork, passion, and a commitment to performance and excellence.

We are seeking a Purchasing Manager who takes ownership of purchasing and warehouse operations, supports our project teams, and develops a team that follows consistent standards.

Position Overview

The Purchasing Manager reports to the Vice President of Preconstruction and is responsible for daily purchasing, inventory management, warehouse operations, and material delivery. This role works closely with Estimating, BIM, Project Management, Production, and Field teams to ensure approved materials are available when needed and purchased within project budgets.

We expect this manager to plan ahead, set clear priorities, and follow issues through resolution. Success requires protecting project costs, maintaining accurate records, and building dependable processes that the team can follow consistently.

Core Responsibilities

Purchasing and Cost Control

  • Plan project buyout and purchasing with project teams, including long-lead items, approval requirements, and dates materials are needed in the field.
  • Review material requests against project scope, approved submittals, and budgets. Clarify incomplete information with the responsible project team before placing orders.
  • Compare vendor quotes for scope, quantity, price, freight, and lead time. Negotiate pricing and terms while considering quality and delivery reliability.
  • Issue accurate purchase orders with the correct job number and cost coding, following company approval procedures.
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities, track buyout against budget, and capture available rebates and credits. Obtain documented approval before purchasing substitutions or scope changes.

Vendor Management and Order Follow Through

  • Maintain professional vendor relationships and track order confirmations, delivery commitments, backorders, and special orders.
  • Communicate shortages, price changes, and delivery risks early, with proposed solutions and clear follow-up dates.
  • Resolve incorrect shipments, damaged materials, returns, and warranty issues. Work with Accounting to reconcile purchase orders, receiving records, invoices, and credits.

Team Leadership and Process Improvement

  • Set daily priorities, delegate work, and hold team members accountable for accuracy, completion, and communication.
  • Train and coach the team on purchasing, receiving, inventory, delivery, and safe work practices. Verify that procedures are understood and followed.
  • Review recurring problems, identify their causes, and implement practical improvements. Coordinate with other departments to resolve handoff issues.
  • Maintain visibility of open orders, unresolved issues, and upcoming needs. Perform other duties as assigned.

Warehouse Inventory and Delivery

  • Direct receiving, inspection, storage, and tracking of materials. Keep the warehouse organized and safe, and use available space efficiently.
  • Maintain accurate purchasing and inventory records in Foundation and the inventory management system. Perform regular inventory checks and resolve discrepancies.
  • Record incoming and outgoing materials by project, quantity, and recipient so inventory movements and project charges can be verified.
  • Coordinate deliveries and will-call orders with project and field teams. Verify quantities, approved materials, delivery requirements, and site readiness.
  • Manage tools and equipment inventory, including assignment, return, condition, and repair needs. Reduce excess stock, material waste, and avoidable delivery costs.

How Success Is Measured

Performance is measured through timely and accurate purchase orders, delivery commitments met, buyout results against budget, rebate and credit recovery, inventory accuracy, and resolution of purchasing and warehouse issues. The manager is also accountable for team development, consistent use of procedures, and effective coordination with project and field teams.
